Contemporary Austin House Reveal

After many months in the works, here’s a first look at our Austin House project! We designed this new-build house to be bright and airy, with a blend of contemporary and traditional features, and timeless natural textures. It was important for the house to be rooted to its setting and its history, so we styled the house with nods to local south western, Texan and hispanic heritage, through materials, textiles and décor.

Large contemporary windows flood the rooms with bright light, especially the double-height living room. Natural wood flooring across the house is both soft and solid under-foot. Stone-like and patterned tiles dress the bathrooms and loos. Traditional shaker cabinets pair with black accents, which bridge historic and contemporary aesthetics. Also timeless are the basket details, which soften the space through lampshades, decorations and furniture. We started with a base of sandy, desert-like textiles, and added vibrancy through colour pops of blue, pink and green. Dark wooden furniture felt rich in character and history, which we contrasted with airy, some light wood furniture.
