Hand-blocked Cushions for an Autumnal Living Room Update

Updating our homes for each season, makes so much sense! During autumn, I switch our our soft furnishings and décor to heavier, warmer, and cosier fabrics, the same way we do with our clothing. I find myself searching for warmer colours in fabrics too, to match the golden and red leaves outside. This year, I updated our larger living room sofa cushions by sewing new covers from this gorgeous deep rust-coloured hand-blocked fabric.

I searched for deep red, and burnt orange fabrics, and found that this one’s deep rust hue has the potential to transition in to Christmas decorating, in a few months’ time. I prepared the hand-blocked fabric for 65x65 cm cushions, designing them with charming tie-closures. They work so well with our cosy brown chenille blanket, charcoal-grey floral cushion, and grey sheepskin.

To further enhance autumnal feeling at home, I also styled our side tables with rich, purple dried hydrangeas, playful pumpkin decorations, and atmospheric candles.
